To record test case steps with Web Recorder:
In MS Internet Explorer open a Web page intended for testing.
Click the Web Recorder’s icon located on the browser’s Command bar.
Web Recorder opens in the left-side pane of the browser.
Note: If the Web Recorder’s icon is not present on your browser’s Command bar, perform the following steps:
In the MS Internet Explorer select Tools → Manage Add-ons → Enable or Disable Add-ons…
In the Show drop-down list choose ‘Add-ons currently loaded in Internet Explorer’.
In the add-ons list below the Show drop-down list find and select ‘SiteTest’ in the Name column.
In the Settings section below the add-ons list click the Enabled radio button and then click OK.
Close and reopen the Internet Explorer. The Web Recorder’s icon should appear on the Command bar
Note: Web Recorder can also be opened by selecting View → Explorer Bar → SiteTest Web Recorder.
Click the Record button in the Web Recorder’s pane to begin recording.
Perform a set of actions that should be included in your test case. User actions are recorded as steps in real time. The steps appear in the Web Recorder’s pane.
Note: Web Recorder is capable to effectively record many of the basic actions that can be performed with Web applications such as clicking on links, images, and buttons, entering text into text fields, marking check boxes, etc. To record more advanced interactions with an application under test or to perform any other test case enhancements, users should upload the recorded steps to SiteTest application environment and continue working on the test case there.
Web Recorder allows verifying presence of any specific text on a Web page. To do it, during the recording process, highlight an appropriate text on a Web page and then select the Verify Text Presence command in the Actions menu.
If a dialog box appears during the recording of steps, select the Press Dialog Button command in the Action menu. ‘Press Dialog Button’ Parameters window will open. Type a title of the dialog window into the Window Title field and text (caption) of the button that should be clicked into the Button Name field. Click OK.
When finished recording steps, click the Web Recorder’s Stop button .
Now the recorded steps can be executed by clicking the Run button .
Note: Execution can be interrupted any time by clicking the Web Recorder’s Stop button .
Note: During the execution, SiteTest Web Recorder plays back the recorded actions in the browser, highlighting passed steps in green, steps that are currently being executed – in yellow, and failed steps – in red.
Once all recorded steps are executed, the Run button reappears.
