In most cases, Window and GUI objects are being added to project Application GUI Models using the object capturing methods. However, in some situations objects need to be added manually.
To manually create a new Window Object, in the GUI Objects Tree right-click the Application Object (the top object of the Tree) and select the Add New Window command in the popup menu.
If you need to manually add a GUI Object, in the GUI Objects Tree right-click a Window Object to which the new GUI object should be added and select the Add New Object command in the popup menu.
Once the new object is added, its properties can be edited to meet specifications of the corresponding object in the application under test.
SiteTest also allows copying existing Window and GUI Objects by right-clicking the object that needs to be copied and selecting the Copy command in the popup menu. The copy will be added on the same tree level as the original, will inherit all properties of the original except the Name, Title (or Text), and GUID, and, if it is a Window Object, will have copies of all GUI objects of the original.
Additionally, you can copy existing GUI Objects to specified locations. This function is useful when you need to make copies of existing GUI Objects and attach them to a different Window Object. To do this,
Right-clicking the object that should be copied and select the Copy object to command in the popup menu.
Note: If all GUI Objects of a certain window should be copied to another window, right-click the window that contains the objects and then select the Copy all objects to command in the popup menu.
In the opened Object Choice dialog window select the Window Object to which the copies have to be attached and click the Next button.
Note: Objects can be copied only to the windows of the same platform (Win32 or HTML) as their original window.
Note: The copies will inherit all properties of the originals except the Name, Text, and GUID.
Furthermore, SiteTest allows merging GUI Objects of one window with the objects of another window if both windows share the same platform. To perform this task,
In the Objects Tree, right-clicking the Window Object whose GUI Objects should be attached to another Window Object and select the Merge with command in the popup menu.
Note: Once the objects are relocated, the Window Object to which they were attached will be deleted.
In the opened Object Choice dialog window select the Window Object to which the GUI Objects need to be attached and click the Next button.
