To execute test cases on a local computer and to work with Application GUI Models, a special connection must be established between a computer and a SiteTest Application Server. For this purpose, two procedures must be performed: Defining of a SiteTest Agent on the Application Server and then installation and launch of the SiteTest Agent on a computer intended for executing test cases and working with Application GUI Models.
The number of Agents that can be defined by each SiteTest client is individually predetermined in the SiteTest purchase agreement. The Agent defining procedure is conducted through the SiteTest Web-based interface and requires creation of a name of the Agent, setting the time zone, and assigning of testing team members to have access to the Agent. All of these parameters can later be modified.
After creating the Agent definition, a user must:
Download the defined Agent from the SiteTest Application Server.
Install the SiteTest Agent on a local computer.
Launch the Agent to get an ability of executing test cases and working with Application GUI Models.
Each Agent can establish a connection between a SiteTest Server and one local computer at a time. Once an Agent is downloaded from the SiteTest Server and installed on a given computer, it cannot be downloaded to and installed on another computer until the Agent is reset.
Even if a particular Agent has been installed on several computers at different times, still only one of those computers can be connected to the SiteTest Server at a time.
For example, in order to establish a connection between a SiteTest Server and a Computer-1 through an Agent that currently connects a Computer-2 to the Server, the Agent must be reset first. The Agent reset action disconnects the Computer-2 from the SiteTest Server and the Agent becomes available for download and installation on Computer-1. After the Agent is reset, a user must download and install it on the Computer-1, although the Agent might have been installed on the Computer-1 before.
Disconnection of a given computer from a SiteTest Server only means that users are no longer able to perform test case executions and operations with Application GUI Models on this computer. SiteTest Agent is not needed for performing all other operations such as creating requirements and test cases, running reports, using the bug tracking system, etc.
